We're excited that Leiston Youth and Community Angling Society (LYCAS) has received over £6,000 in funding from the Sizewell C Community Fund.

This community angling club was set up in the 1970’s so members know first-hand how an increase in the local population that comes with a Sizewell construction project brings an increased demand for access to the sport and their facilities. In order to meet this demand, the club sought funding to purchase angling equipment that could be hired by prospective members and guests.  This enables LYCAS to provide a relaxing and enjoyable past-time to the new arrivals as well as an opportunity to enhance community cohesion. 

The Sizewell C Community Fund will provide up to £23m to local charities, community groups and organisations. These grants will help fund projects which in turn will support local residents impacted by the construction of the Sizewell C nuclear power station. Find out more at www.sizewellcfund.org.uk

Help Suffolk's most vulnerable keep warm this winter.

Suffolk Community Foundation has launched its annual Surviving Winter appeal. We are asking anyone who feels able to make a donation to get in touch and support the growing number of pensioners who are struggling to heat their homes. 

The campaign has taken on even more importance than ever this year as an estimated 90% of older people living in the county are due to lose the winter fuel payment following changes to government policy.

We're delighted to announce a new charity partnership with PLMR Genesis 

PLMR Genesis, based in Ipswich, is part of the wider PLMR group which donates 5% of net profits to philanthropic causes every year, a tradition that started when the business was founded in 2006. 

Hannah Bloom, Director of Philanthropy & Engagement at Suffolk Community Foundation said 'With 87% of charities in Suffolk having an income of less than £100,000, our role is to support them where possible with much-needed funding towards their work. Sizewell C Community Fund Grants Officer.
 
Suffolk Community Foundation will be administering the £23m Sizewell C Community Fund over the next 10 years. The Fund will be used to boost environmental, social and economic wellbeing and The Foundation will use its expertise to make sure that this funding brings the greatest benefits to our most impacted communities.

Reporting to the Sizewell C Community Fund Project Manager, the Sizewell C Community Fund Grants Officer will be part of a small team dedicated to specifically leading on distributing the fund across East Suffolk.
